Get Involved!

Working Together to Preserve the Legacy of Public Lands

In recent years the Forest Service has experienced an increase in demand for volunteer opportunities; people want to get involved to make a difference, restore landscapes, improve their resume and meet like-minded individuals. National statistics show that citizens are taking advantage of volunteering opportunities on public lands and the results are astounding!

The Santa Fe National Forest is proud to host partnerships with volunteers (individuals and groups, alike) and will continue to reach out to those groups and individuals who have not yet experienced volunteering on the Santa Fe National Forest.

Plus, the Forest welcomes all user groups to participate in projects that benefit the trails and landscape. Examples include:

  • Organized workdays on trails
  • Trail adoptions
  • Campground hosting
  • Trail and trash patrols

For many of the opportunities, no experience is necessary and you will be trained for the volunteer duties. Of course, the Forest Service emphasizes safety at all turns, which means safety precautions and personal protection equipment is required for many of the projects because safety is everyone’s responsibility. Your help in making safety a number one priority for volunteer projects is appreciated.
